Brr. Is it just us or is it getting chilly?
There’s no better time to stay in and cook up a feast. The only problem… the washing up! Don’t worry, we have the solution — one pot wonders. Don’t lose your cool arguing over washing up duty and stay toasty with these winter warmers.
Feta Pasta Bake
Pasta. It’s an Aussie staple for a reason.
It’s basically fool proof (sometimes spaghetti sticks together, okay?!) and can be customised to suit even the fussiest of eaters. When we saw this viral TikTok for feta pasta bake we knew we had to try it out. And guess what — it was pretty damn good.
Not only is this dinner hack incredibly easy, the sauce only uses one pot. All you need is feta, cherry tomatoes, basil, garlic and a splash of olive oil. Just make sure your roasting dish has enough room to fit in all the pasta.
We love this recipe because it can go straight from the oven to the table. This makes it perfect for when you’re entertaining. Just place down a trivet and set your cookware straight from the oven on top. Finish with your serving utensils, a dinner set and glassware for a spread so good no one will know you got the recipe from TikTok.
Don’t let it get cold! Dig into your creamy, cheesy pasta goodness pronto.
Roasted Pork Belly With Orange and Star Anise
When it comes to culinary greats it’s hard to go past Yotam Ottolenghi.
Known for dishes that always bring a mix of worldly flavours and never-fail recipes, his foodie loving creations have long been a favourite of ours.
Luckily for us — Ottolenghi is also the master of the one pot wonder.
We decided to throw it back with some 90s inspired flavours with this orange and pork stunner. This one sheet dinner takes a bunch of kitchen ingredients you have hiding at the back of the pantry, oranges and star anise, and pairs it with a delicious cut of pork to make a mid-winter feast of crackly, salty goodness.
It’s as simple as placing it all on your baking tray, popping it in the oven and letting the magic happen. A perfect meal to impress guests or feed the whole family, this dish pairs fantastically with any leftover roast veggies or coleslaw. Serve with a glass of wine and decanter for a dinner that looks luxurious without the fuss.
So what are you waiting for? Get your cookware and kitchen utensils ready. Oh and don’t forget the tea towels for an easy clean up!
One-Pot Chicken with Orzo, Porcini and Cinnamon
There’s nothing that says winter cooking more than a roast chicken.
Our favourite culinary king Ottolenghi is back with this one pot chicken that’s so simple you might ditch the roast for good. All you need is your best casserole dish.
This recipe might sound complicated but it’s super easy. The cascabel chillies provide a stunning depth of flavour that is soaked up by the orzo, which is just a fancy way of saying small pasta. With flavours this bold you won’t even need a side! You can also go straight from the oven to the table with this one, just make sure you place it on a heat-safe platter.
This hearty dish calls for a drink. Pair it with your favourite tumblers or highballs and you’ve got a spread that will impress.
Sink your teeth into these hearty feasts this winter. Why bother making more mess when you can cook it in one? Say goodbye to wasting your night washing up for good.
Plus you can use all that saved time to have an extra vino or two — go on, you deserve it, get the wine glasses out.
