The All American Toastie

  • 6 slices of sourdough bread
  • 225g of smokey pastrami
  • 8 slices of American cheese
  • Butter, softened
  • Gherkin (for garnish)
  • Toothpicks


Step 1
Spread the softened butter on one side of each sourdough slice.

Step 2
Place a slice of American cheese on the unbuttered side of three slices of bread.

Step 3
Layer the pastrami evenly over the cheese on each of the three slices.

Step 4
Place the remaining four slices of bread, buttered side up, on top of the pastrami.

Step 5
Preheat a Tan-ium 28cm Fry Pan over medium-high heat and transfer the sandwiches one at a time. Press them down gently with a Tool Slotted Spatula until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted. Repeat steps with the remaining sandwiches.

Step 6
Remove the sandwiches from the heat and let cool slightly. Cut sandwiches in half and stack on top of each other. Garnish by placing a toothpick through the top sandwich and push a gherkin through the toothpick. Serve on Hue Dinner Plates in White with friends (or by yourself – we won’t judge!).
